Hanwell Methodist Church

Hanwell Methodist Church's Wednesday Club meets about
once every month usually on the second Wednesday of the
month in the evening at 8:00pm. The group have a varied
programme each year which consists of musical evenings,
entertainment, social gatherings, demonstrations, talks and similar activities. Printed programmes are usually available at the back of the Church in the display stands.

All are welcome to attend any of the meetings. If you require further information then please contact one of our stewards.

The current year's programme of activities up to the summer break in 2019 is published below. Most meetings start at 8:00pm and use our Centenary Room as the meeting venue.  Tea, coffee and other refreshments are served at each meeting.  There is usually a small charge of about £1 to cover the cost.

Some events such as a trip to the theatre or a barbeque may not be held in the Church or start at 8:00pm. Details of imminent events are usually also listed in the Church’s weekly newsletter and on our Diary page.

Do you have an interest?

The Wednesday Club are always looking for guest speakers and demonstrators to invite to their social events.  If you have an interest that you would like to talk about, then please get in contact with one of the members.  You can find names and contact details in the Club’s printed programme available on the back pew shelf in Church.

10th October
The Church Wednesday Club invites you to their first social evening meeting of this Methodist year. The evening theme will be a guest speaker giving a talk about Hanwell Neighbourly Care Service. Please note the change in topic from that previously advertised.

The venue is our Centenary Room. All are welcome and tea and coffee and light refreshments will be served.
24th October
Our Church Wednesday Club will be having an extra meeting with an outing to St. Benedict's School to see the GLOC Theatre Company production of Simply the West being put on by this local amatuer dramatic group who use our Church premises for their practice sessions.

The event will also include supper. Note the slightly earlier start time. Details and costs have now been published in our Church weekly newsletter.
14th November
Our Wednesday Club will be hosting a talk entitled What does the YMCA do? by their guest speaker Rev. Suzanne Venron-York in the Centenary Room.

Light refreshments will be served.
19th December
The Wednesday Club will be holding a pre-Christmas meal incorporating festive food, fun and carol singing.

Everyone is welcome to join in the event which will be held in the Church Centenary Room.

Please note the change in date and time to that previously published.
7th January
The club are planning to have a 241 meal and cinema or theatre evening. Watch out because the start time may not be the usual time of 8:00pm.

This event was changed from Wednesday 9th January to Monday 7th January.
13th February
Time for our local Churches to battle it out in this annual Quiz evening.  This is the time when it will be a battle of wits between teams from St. Mellitus, Our Lady and St Josephs, and Hanwell Methodist churches. Other local churches may be added to the list if they think they have a chance of taking home the trophy!  Who will be the 2019 champions? You need to be there to find out.

Our Church will be looking for our awesome and highly intelligent members a little nearer the time. Please come and support us. The venue is our Church Centenary Room.

If you don't think you are highly intelligent then you can still come and partake in the refreshments that will be will be served.
13th March
Who do you think you are? A talk presented by David Street on family history. May be you could dig up some skeletons in the cupboard!

The meeting will be held in the Centenary Room. All are welcome to listen and then enjoy the refreshments that will be served.
10th April
The three P's: Puddings, Poems and Puzzles.

All are welcome to participate and refreshments will be served in the Church Centenary Room.
22nd May
Dancing round the maypole. Have you ever done it? Have you ever tried it? Well here is your chance. This event was originally planned for last year but circumstance put it off until this year. It will be hosted by Gill Standfield in the Main Hall. Please note the change in date and venue.

After all that dancing, refreshments will be served.
12th June
This Wednesday Club meeting will be a Planning Meeting to determine the Wednesday Club's 2019/2020 programme of events. If you have got something to offer or a hobby or interest you would like to talk about, or even if you have got ideas of what items could be on the next season's programme then you will be welcome to come along to the Centenary Room to add your contribution.

In exchange for your ideas, you will be offered tea, coffee and cake... and the Wednesday Club offer a very good cup of tea, coffee and cake.
10th July
The club will be holding a BBQ evening where you can enjoy fine cuisine and company. The venue has yet to be finalised.
